Dr. Elizabeth McKinstry, AVUHSD Director of Career Technical Education (CTE), who oversees the District's career academies and pathways that prepare students for a wide range of future college and career options was recently awarded two state honors for her support and work with staff, students and the community.

On April 16th and 17th Smarter Balance State Testing will take place and these assessments are all about you!
There's only one you! 
Smarter Balance measures your progress on skills like problem solving and critical thinking.  Skills that you will need to use in the careers of today and tomorrow!
It's your future! 
Whether you plan to go to college or participate in an apprenticeship type program, Smarter Balance helps you know if you are on track, need extra help in high school or are ready to take on more challenging coursework before you graduate.
Get it started right! 
You can use your Smarter Balance high school scores at more than 240 colleges and universities in 10 states to determine whether you are ready for credit-bearing courses.  This helps you avoid the cost and time of taking remedial or high school level courses in college.

Annual Independent City Event a Success
