Did you know that the Antelope Valley Union High School District offers a free, dependent public charter school for 7th and 8th graders? If you have a student in these grades, please join us for an information session this Thursday Feb. 21 in Palmdale, and learn all about what Academy Prep Junior High has to offer including high quality, caring teachers, small class sizes in a family environment, a STEM focus, sports and more. The Antelope Valley Optimist Club is holding an Oratorical Contest and Essay Contest. The deadline for both contests is February 22, 2019. The Oratorical Contest World Championship prize winner can receive up to a $22,500 scholarship, while the Essay Contest winner will receive a $2,500 scholarship.

Zahraa Charara

Meet Zahraa Charara, school counselor at Knight High School! Zahraa joined the KHS team this year and brings a strong passion for college preparation. She especially enjoys supporting students in creating personal statements and essays. Zahraa earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley and her Master’s degree from Azusa Pacific. She speaks four languages, loves to travel and participates in obstacle course races. Thank you to Ms. Charara for being a school counselor and supporting our students!
